“Take a deep breath, step through, and start a new chapter in your life. This is something we all think when starting something new. Change is hard, and new beginnings can be terrifying.
We’ve all experienced beginnings at some point in our lives, whether it’s a new relationship, marriage, business, or job. The common question is: ‘What is it going to be like?’ This was exactly how I felt before I started my new job at ⋮IW. I had many expectations, questions, and insecurities until my first day at the company.
On my first day, my orientation guide gave me a tour of the offices, introducing me to all my new colleagues and helping me get acquainted with the building. It was great! The people were so friendly and nice. Walking around with someone already part of the company made me feel really welcomed. I believe this is the most important aspect of starting a new job—feeling welcomed and at home. They say the first impression is the most important one, and my first impression was that I am part of a company where employees come first.
While settling down, I couldn’t believe I had already been there for a month! Time flew by, which is a good sign. The work environment is very comfortable and relaxed, allowing for short breaks or even a massage in the massage chairs. In September, we went to Ohrid for a team-building event. It was a great experience to get to know my colleagues in a more informal setting. We had team-building games, and my team won (Go Team Blue!). As time passes and after the exciting initial days on the job, it’s time to settle into my role. I am taking on the role of Human Resources Assistant. My goal for the first month was to get to know my colleagues better and to learn how I can apply my skills to the challenges and opportunities in this organization. I am so happy because there is nothing greater than working at a job you love. As Confucius said: ‘Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
