My First Month Working at ⋮IW

“Take a deep breath step on through and start a new chapter in your life” – this may be something that we all think when we start something new. Change is always hard and new beginnings can be terrifying.
The beginning is a place where we all have been at some point in our lives. Whether it was the beginning of a relationship, a marriage, a new business, or a new job. The one thing common for all these relationships is that you always ask yourself: “What is it going to be like?” This was exactly how I felt before I started my new job at ⋮IW. I had a lot of expectations, a lot of questions and a lot of insecurities until the first day I stepped in the Company.

You know, every company has its own onboarding process, and I have changed a couple of jobs so far, but I have to say the process at ⋮IW surprised me in a positive way (even though I am an HR girl myselfJ). On the first day I was assigned to a Guide which is one of the employees. He contacted me  one day prior to my coming to work and gave me a short intro of what will be happening on my first day. He also helped me with everything, from creating an email to using kitchen supplies, to lunch places, making coffee… it is pretty amazing and encouraging as well. On my first day he made sure I have a tour throughout the offices to meet all of my new colleagues and of course get acquainted with the building. It was great! The people were so friendly and nice, I was walking around with someone who is already part of the company so I really felt welcomed. I personally consider this to be the most important thing when you start at your new job. Feeling welcomed, feeling at home! They say the first impression is the most important one, and my first impression was that I am a part of a company where employees come first.

And while I was settling down I cannot believe I’ve already been here for a month! It has gone by faster than I thought, which is a good sign. The work environment is very comfortable and relaxed which means you can take short breaks or get a massage on the massage chairs :). During September, we also went to Ohrid for a team building event. It was an enjoyable experience and it was good to get to know my colleagues in a more informal setting. I have to mention that we had team building games and my team won (Go Team Blue!) :).

But, as the time passes and after the exciting initial days on the job, it’s time to settle into my role. I will be taking on the role as a Human Recourse Assistant and my goal in this first month was to get to know more with the colleagues and to learn how I can apply my skill set to the challenges and opportunities facing this organization. I am so happy because there is no greater thing than working the job you love. And as Confucius said: “Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”.
