Optimizing Work by Implementing Confluence Knowledge Management Practices

Overview & Challenge

The client is a company operating in the Transportation and Logistics industry. It’s a unique combination of Carrier, Freight Broker, and Software Technology company with a goal of optimizing the Freight Transport Industry today. Their solutions include ELD devices for trucks and trailers, enhancing them with e-logging, tracking driver’s performance, freight manipulation that can help increase ROI, provide a detailed overview of fleet and increase driver’s safety.

The Client continually works on improving its internal operations to provide the best customer service. One of the many aspects where they continually invest is in the development teams because an efficient working team means efficient enterprise. The Client’s development teams are already cross-functional, and agile, but what they lacked was a single source of truth. More specifically, all documentation and requirements were stored in Microsoft Office files, which made it hard to browse through them to find information, and they were difficult to access. What the Client needed was one centralized place that will gather all information and make available to all employees. Having experience of using Atlassian tools, it was clear that the solution will include the implementation of some of the Atlassian tools.

Solution

By using Confluence, a centralized knowledge base solution was created which is easily integrated with the existing project management tools for storing, sharing, and organizing business requirements and related documentation.

Business Outcomes

With the implementation of Confluence, the client succeeded in optimizing the work of the internal teams even further. Having one place to store all knowledge meant significantly reducing the time needed to find, and share knowledge, improving employees’ productivity, which on the other hand lead to improved customer service. Key results include:

  • A single source of real-time project knowledge
  • No overlapping and out-of-sync information
  • Improved team`s shared understanding of the project
