With the spirit of a professional nomad, Bedouin blood, and an affinity for the unknown I came to live my life not by prearranged design but as someone following the flight of dragonflies.
I grew up in the 90s looking up to a technology executive from one side and a businesswoman from the other side. Technology seemed more interesting at the age of 5 to 15. I remember having every popular and not-so-popular video game console, handheld gadget, and computer, which fulfilled my curiosity to the fullest. Legend of Zelda, Super Mario 64, Doom 64, Hercules and Crash Bandicoot were my childhood vices, my friends and enemies. With great power comes great responsibility though, I started breaking things out of carelessness, so I learned how to fix them. My first real assignment was during the school summer break of 2003. I dropped my indestructible Nokia 3310 in a pool, distressed about getting grounded I disassembled the device, cleaned it with pure alcohol, dried it with a hairdryer and installed a software update – worked like new! Exposed to so much software and hardware from an early age, it became my duty to be the computer expert among my friends, who did everything starting from installing software to fixing internet lines and assembling hardware.
High school changed everything. I became fond of business and management, I was preparing myself to take over the family business in years’ time. I took participation in many conferences for young leaders, trained myself in soft skills, learned how the corporate world functions and went on many business trips and meetings with my mother. I loved it! One day, during the summer break, my parents came back from work and asked me – “How would you like to go to the USA and finish your education?” – “YES!!!”. And so, I went. I arrived at Eugene, OR airport at 16 years of age and got picked up by an unknown family that I was going to live with for the rest of my high school years. I failed to express how thankful I am for having that opportunity given. It made me an independent man in many ways. While in the US, the first-generation iPhone was launched, and I had to have it! Once again, I was hooked by technology.
After high school, I had to choose my University major. I chose management and was preparing for it but my father changed my mind at the very last minute – “You can always become an executive with an IT degree”. I never regret that decision. I studied Information Technology and I was a teaching assistant at the same time. For my master’s studies, I managed to combine my two passions, and I mastered in Management of Information Technologies.
Teaching at University was not something I wanted to do professionally. In the Spring, of 2011 I was introduced to Software Quality Assurance, and fully trained by my father I started working for a major mobile network operator in Macedonia. Then, I moved to Germany where I lived for 7 years and further developed my career and climbed through the corporate ladders from bottom to top, from Junior QA Engineer to QA Manager.
Currently, I work in one of the biggest QA teams in the country and I am excited to come to work being able to solve challenges for renowned clients. My entrepreneurial spirit has found the perfect fit in ⋮IWConnect, because it is a place where you can propose ideas, grow constantly and create breakthroughs.
Personally, I am a husband and a father, I love every moment that I get to be with my family. Watching my little boy grow, learn, and explore is my remedy and an everyday reminder that the purpose of life is not all work and career chase. So here I am with my idea of life to live it, taste every experience to the utmost, and reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer episodes.
